Katie's next round of chemotherapy started this week. The days were long but we have no complaints: her port was accessed easily and blood draws went smooth; the nurses were as helpful and pleasant as always; my sister and brother-in-law dropped off lunch from Outback one day; and nausea and fatigue were negligible. Truly, she is tolerating it very well - including physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her counts were pretty good again this week. White blood cell count had dropped some but was still up enough to allow chemo to continue as scheduled. She will get an injection later this week to boost those counts. The PET scan results came back showing good response to treatment thus far. The primary site is significantly smaller than on the first scan, and her oncologist is pleased with the response. We are very grateful that her body is responding to this chemo regimen! She will continue with this regimen for a couple more months before a decision is made concerning the need for radiation therapy. Some things definitely had to be scratched off the to do list this year, and Christmas cards were one of those activities. So consider this your Christmas greeting from the Cobb crew. Merry Christmas!
Many blessings from our family to yours! Chad, Sarah, Aaron, Katie, Ben, Annie, and Daniel

The last couple days have been filled to the brim for our family! I am not sure I have ever felt so loved and blessed before! We knew we had a few friends out there and not many enemies, but your kindness and support has been incredibly humbling for us. We can't even express the depth of our appreciation! Friday was Purple Out at Winfield Middle and Elementary Schools and around the community. My news feed kept blowing up all day with pictures of purple shirts! Then the Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (sweetjuliagracefoundation.com) visited our home and showered us with gifts, and food and sweet surprises. My kids loved being caroled to - complete with Santa! Saturday was a visit with dear friends and an utterly unbelievable 5K, lovingly called the 5Katie Run! So many supporters! Many came for their first ever 5K - and started with a challenging course too. You can see pictures at tristateracer.com or my facebook page. Prayers for this week: - Last week's labs were really good. A normal white count means lots of fun with family and friends for Christmas! - PET scan went fine on Friday. She got through it and then had lunch and her nails done with a friend. We are praying to hear good results on Monday. - Next round of chemo starts tomorrow. We will be at the infusion center several days this week. Please pray for tolerance of this both physically and emotionally. Blessings, Sarah
"Life isn't about waiting on the storms to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain."
Some friends who had walked a path similar to ours shared this quote that served as an encouragement for their family. And it's proven to be a mantra at our house as well. Yes, we've had some tough days and there are still some questions that swirl in our minds, but we're learning to focus our attention on the blessings of life instead of on the hardships of this season. Some of Jesus' final words to us remind us that "in this life, you will have trouble. But take heart because I have overcome the world." So, with the help from some friends and the truth of Scripture, we're learning to dance in the rain. And we've had a really good week this week. Katie finished up 3 days of chemo with very minimal side effects. We enjoyed some good food provided by our church family. We had some great friends watch our kids on Saturday evening so that Sarah and I could go out on a date and do some Christmas shopping. Plus, the Mounties pulled out two big wins on Saturday, which always helps lighten the mood at the Cobb household! :) Some specific prayer requests:
