This week has brought more improvements and more plans. Monday's scans showed that the cancer is chemo sensitive as it has already started to respond slightly to the initial round of chemo given in Charleston. A new chemo drug was started today and will be given once per week for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, the scans also showed that the disease in her lungs is not improving quickly, so she will continue the antibiotic for an additional week. Because the fluid appears to have stopped accumulating around her lungs for now, the chest tube has been removed. This greatly helps her comfort level and improves her activity tolerance, so she has been working with PT and OT every day, along with working on some algebra and enjoying the therapy dogs. Since there is concern that her port could be a potential harbor for this infection, especially if her counts drop low again in the future, the port will be surgically removed tomorrow and a PICC line will be placed temporarily on Monday. The PICC line will remain until which time it is deemed best to replace the port. In addition to receiving tube feeds at night, Katie has been eating well in hopes of getting back to her fighting weight of 78 pounds. If she continues to improve as she has, we hope to come home in a couple weeks before the next round of chemo. Today marks her 23rd day in the hospital.
I am not sure how many of you feel about spiritual warfare, that is demons and angels fighting over us and around us, but I strongly believe that what we are able to see with human eyes is a very limited view of what is actually happening in our world. Right now, I believe our family is under attack by Satan, the prince of this world, who is using all manner of chaos and disease to cast low blows against us. I do not think it is coincidence that we are stuck in Cincinnati just as River Ridge Church is expanding and growing, or that we were all kept away from potential mission trips this year because of this, or that Katie's own blog -meant to encourage other teens in their faith- had just started to grow when her own roots of faith were struck with an ax. And it makes me FURIOUS! As you pray for Katie this week, if you are so inclined, consider also the power of audibly repulsing the enemy by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ and demanding that he leave my family alone. I would be so grateful. Blessings, Sarah and Chad and the Cobb 7

Sarah, your words on spiritual warfare speak directly to my heart. The Battle Plan For Prayer by Stephen And Alex Kendrick helped me learn to pray strategically when satan blindsided me and my family. I shared this curriculum with my Sunday class. Each of you have been in the cross hairs of my prayers as I have been taking aim against satan's intrusion in your life. Through The blood of Jesus I continue to pray for victory over anything satan might have up his sleeve for you guys.

Continued thoughts and prayers for you all, Sarah- for wisdom, perseverance, strength, peace, courage, and tremendous fighting spirit. And for the seemingly small things that mean so much during trials like these-a hot, homemade meal; an undisturbed nap; a moment alone; giggles with your kids; and a long hug from your spouse.

Sarah, I admire your faith. I think about you guys daily and pray for you often. I pray for strength for Katie, peace amidst the spiritual warfare that your family is under. God will always defeat Satan and I believe that we will see that happen soon as He is already getting him in a corner every day that Katie improves and every time you praise Him for each step forward and each blessing along The way. I don't know how you are doing it I really don't. My heart goes out to your family. Please know I'm a friend, a prayer warrior for all of you. I love you as a sister in Christ and I know that Katie will have even a bigger witness at the end of this. Love and prayers❤️

Completely agree that there is a battle between the demons and angels. I also believe in the strength of audible prayer to God and audible rebuke of the evil one and his minions. Praise to Almighty God, the conqueror and healer. Remain strong and steadfast in your faith Cobb 7.

Right before I read this most recent post I was thinking this is an attack by Satan and we totally need to pray against it in the name of Jesus! I just listened to a sermon a couple of days ago about it and I then I read your post this morning. Let's stand together and rebuke him in the name of Jesus Christ!!! Love you and your family brother! I'll be in constant prayer for you!!!

One thing I've come to understand more in the last year than ever is that He never leaves her side! I believe he speaks to her in her sleep strengthening her resolve to fight. He sends out a call to prayer to even those who've forgotten how to bring them closer to your family and Him. She is our thoughts and prayers daily.

We too believe this is a fight of the enemy. Wwe have been praying for a Miracle for our Special needs grandson & a couple of other people as well as Katie. The closer our faith comes to believing for those miracles, the more the enemy fights & brings new afflictions. But by God's Grace & Mercy & through persevering prayer, these MIRACLES for healing will happen & God will get the glory.

I know the darkness you speak of. You are so wise to recognize the true source of this onslaught of chaos and destruction. I pray that you can feel the Holy spirit moving and the refining fire of Christ moving through this community. Satan is most certainly behind this but he has only stirred up a hornets nest of Christian soldiers. I pray that the Lord will allow Katie to have a glimpse of souls coming to Christ through her suffering. That she will have an minute by minute filling of the Holy Spirit. We will be throwing down demons in Jesus name! Loving you desperately,

Your testimony is so touching and so inspiring. I too believe that there are forces going on around us all tbe time that we can't see. The closer we get to God, the harder the devil works on us. It has happened to me in my life also. I will be praying for God to give you tbe strength you need to persevere and the wisdom you need to make decisions in Katie's care. Praying for Katie, your family and all tbe health care workers at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. God's Got This!

I know you don't know me but Mia Woods is in my class and we have a group that meets once a week and we keep Katie in our prayers. I have been following your blog and this post immediately made me think of a quote from a book I just started fm reading and I felt led to share. The book is Fervent by Priscilla Shirer and it says "At the end of the day, the enemy is going to be sorry he ever messed with you. You're about to become his worst nightmare a million times over. He thought he could wear you down, sure that after a while you'd give up without much of a fight. Well, just wait till he encounters the fight of God's Spirit in you. Because.... This. Means. War.

Sarah - I totally believe in spiritual warfare and I TOTALLY believe in praying strategically. Strategic prayer is our awesome weapon against the prince of darkness. He WILL be defeated and the power of the strategic prayers for your family are amped up every time you post a blog and ask for specific prayer requests. GOD WINS! We love you all and remain strategically prayerful❤️

I agree, spiritual warfare is going on all around us. Satan deceives whomever he can and strikes their weaknesses. I have been in a situation where I was so angry I scared myself. I'm not an angry person normally but when satan refused to give up, I became angry at the mess he was making of people's lives. I finally decided that satan loved it that I was angry and so I claimed victory in Jesus in spite of satan! Yes, you are missing so much at River Ridge but you will never know the impact you are having on so many lives. The Lord is using the Cobb family, and you probably won't realize the extent for quite a while.

To the world your family is fighting a physical disease, but a child of God recognizes that it is actually a spiritual battle. Although it will roar loudly, it is already defeated!

I pray that Katie and your entire family be covered with blood of Jesus Christ from the crown of your heads to the soles of your feet, that He put a hedge of protection around you all. Ephesians 6:12 is true.
