Some days it is just hard to write an update. We have not seen a lot of forward progress, and it is hard to find words to share with friends and family. But that also means that there are no words to give back to us either. It's hard to be encouraging and even to be encouraged. We want to believe, but Lord, help our unbelief.
Katie received her first dose of a new immunotherapy medication last week. We knew beforehand that it would likely make her seem worse before better because of the nature of how it will fight her cancer. While not easy to hear that, it is even harder to see it happening. It became necessary to move her back to the ICU yesterday for closer monitoring and slightly higher flow oxygen. Additionally, she is being prepped for radiation therapy to begin around the middle of next week. Recently, I have been reading a devotional on a few notable Hebrew words. Today's was appropriately about Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, which in Hebrew means, "wrestles with God." The ancient Jews did not see struggling with God as a negative reflection of their relationship, but rather that God invites the wrestling match. We have to continually remind ourselves that he is here with us and that he is okay, maybe even glad, that we are staying in the wrestling match instead of leaving the mat. Genesis 32:28 - Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome." Please continue to pray for Katie and our family. Blessings, Sarah and Chad and the Cobb 7

Your family's is surely being tested... I know your updates must be very hard to write....I saw on FB today about the 2 young girls who sold lemonade, cookies and hairbands and raised $700 ...❤️ A great story indeed. Please give Katie a hug and tell her she has touched many lives. 🌹

I have been a Christian for many years and your faith and endurance has been such an encouragement to me, even tho you are climbing a steep mountain. My husband and I pray for Katie always, but being a Mom I know how hard it must be for you to wrestle with God and keep your eyes on the reward that is in store for Katie. Hope sinners will read your posts and lead them to Jesus.

I remember watching Joyce Meyer once and she said that repeatedly praying for the same thing over and over again doesn't mean that you don't believe it will happen. It means that you have faith to continue to believe enough to keep asking. I believe that Jesus can do anything and He can heal Katie!

As I lay here at the Cancer Center having my next to last chemotherapy treatment I can't help but pray for you as parents. I would be devastated to see my child go through this. The one thing I've learned through all this is that we really have no control over our lives even though we think we do. Only God has control. I would encourage you to write down all your needs on paper. Katie's healing, financial, the other children's needs etc. Pray and tell God you're giving all these concerns to him and then thank Him everyday that the needs are met. Katie does not have cancer, she was diagnosed with it. She is already healed by Jesus stripes.

I cannot imagine how hard having to see your daughter so sick. And at times especially like these it's so easy to doubt our faith. I have exactly been in your shoes but I have dealt with the unbelief while going through a family members illness. I will continue to pray for all of you ❤️

The Cobb 7 and Karen and Bill (that makes Cobb 9!😊) are always in my prayers...praying for peace and rest for you, Sarah and Chad, and for God's guiding grace as He empowers Katie's doctors as they treat her cancer. May each of the Cobb 9 (and Sarah's sweet family too) be surrounded by kindness and compassion, and God's miraculous healing powers prevail.
